At Least We Got a Taste of Fall

There are some things I really miss about Michigan, the lakes, especially lake Michigan. the Victorian/historic houses, the antique shops everywhere, I mean sure there are a few around here is not like there are no antiques in California, but back home there all over the place, and the apple cider mills (Uncle Johns Cider Mill in St. Johns and The Country Mill in Charlotte MI, where I'm from) those are the 2 most prominent ones for me because they were near by, but there are more.

I'm sure a lot of people don't understand the huge attraction especially if your from California, an apple farm out here Isn't really the same thing, but back home, we went every fall. Not only are there apples and pumpkins, but fresh doughnuts and cider.

Man, they're the best doughnuts you have ever had, it doesn't matter if you have had fresh doughnuts before because there not just any fresh doughnuts.

Most places out here in Cali or places like crispy cream, sure make them fresh and they're good, but at a Cider mill, they're not big chains, or mass distributed, there the places home recipe...its a huge appeal and big deal going to a cider mill back home.

Well out here not far from were we live is Oak Glen, a little apple farming town, that we (me and my husband Michael) decided to try out last Saturday, sadly, no doughnuts, only apply pies and stuff (not a huge fan of apple stuff other then doughnuts and cider) but we did have a good time. Cute place with a lot to see, some Great cider, which we forgot to pick some up for home :( 

but still it was a nice day out, we took some good pictures and ended up getting a couple pumpkins.

Oh and before we went, since we have to go down the mountain to get there we met up with our new married friends Gladys and James for lunch at red lobster. Of course I got my favorite Lobster bisque, and after we got a nice group shot together, pictured below.

altogether it was a nice time out, and even though it was disappointing that there was no doughnuts and we forgot cider, we were still very happy to have gotten the chance to get out on a date day together and get some pumpkins.
