About Me

History: I guess a little introduction is in order :p
My Name is Samantha Charlotte Robbe, I was born near Brookfield WI, moved to MI when I was one to live my live in a historic old house 'til I was 15. I guess you could say I was raised in the country, in the little town of Charlotte, about 20 mins south of Lansing.

When I was 15 my parents got divorced, and I moved with my mother and step-father to SoCal when I was 17. Where I now reside for the moment.
I've been doing photography since I was 14, taking pics of friends, and parties always the one everyone knew would bring a camera so nobody else did :p
my mother homeschooled me my whole life and i grew up engrossed in art. my mother used to be a graphic design artist in WI and as i grew up she did a little of that, but mostly did portrait work. pencil and such, also teaching drawing on the right side of the brain classes....which i took about 12 times :p
Example: me doing a pic of Reece Witherspoon when i was 11. i did get better but its not my love so i dont do it much anymore.

my father was a mechanic who had his own business out in our barn that grew so big we had to move in town. so i grew up with a love for cars too :p always loved going to the detroit auto show.
iv had 5 businesses already, at the age of five i painted rocks with nail polish in my backyard and sold them to my dads customers, seems weird, but i made $400 and bought a dog lol.
second, i made a candy rack for my dads employees...eh it worked but wasn't my thing.
third, i made jewelry for many years, especially medical bracelets, i got pretty big with them and had my stuff features in a jeweler.

after that i ended up doing modeling, and a little acting (acting was mostly for fun) but i had to learn monologues for the auditions and conventions.
the ones with the short hair is when im about 14, the long is when im about 11 i think.

finally, photography...when i got my first nicer camera i took pics of everyone and soon it had grown into me taking senior pics for people and other things.
iv loved fashion ever since i can remember, i've always wanted to do something with my life involving it, up until i was 15 i thought i wanted to be something like a fashion designer, but i knew i didn't have the talent for coming up with stuff all the time and knowing its a hard business to get into. thats when i decided i wanted to become a fashion photographer.

now a few last things you should know about me.
1: all my life i have collected fashion mags and tore out anything i liked and cataloged it in binders with plastic sheet holders, also i have 3 movie star catalogs...basically it comes to 5 huge binders full of my fashion loves throughout the years. was a pretty big hobby that stuck.
2: i was also a dancer, i had been dancing since i was 3, in some local professional groups and dancing was originally how i got found by the modeling/talent scout.
i was never that skinny, nor was i ever super flexible, so it made things difficult, but as i have heard from my mother and many others i had fluid grace. due to my over arched feet, i could never get point shoes to wear in right, it eventually strained my arches and i had to quit, then due to my health i had to quit dance all together.  (i was in love with modern dance)

Example: as you can tell my point shoe didnt exactly form to me feet well, i think this was my last recital.

And the last and final history fact about me. my health. due to my health i have had to quit many things, including going to college, i was supposed to go to the university of art in San Fran. i even graduated when i was 16 to be able to go early. but even waiting 2 years after graduation i still can not go.
i am still trying to pursue photography, but for now it will remain local.
i have 8 diseases/conditions. the main one being Diabetes, iv had it since i was 6. i haven't had a terrible life, but i wont deny, things have been pretty shitty at times. i've spent a lot of time in emergency rooms and doctors offices. I take 4-7 shots a day.
what really started preventing me from doing things was my back (scoliosis) and i had started getting double vision, so i cant drive. nobody could figure out what it was, for many years i had been to specialists and crap and nothing was fixed, when it does go off, which we never knew when it would but it would for a few weeks on and, i would have to close one eye to see properly, which gave me major head aches and as you can guess from being the social person i was i was very self contentious.
nobody walks around like a weirdo with one eye closed all the time...right? well it did a beating on me.
on top of that i would get hives all over my body and my face and hands would swell up.
Here is an example of the hives:
the diseases are called, Angioedima and Chronic Urticaria

this last summer from my homeopath we found out it was an inflammatory problem due to an allergy to wheat, corn and oats. I have limited my diet, but i do splurge every so often, i do soooo love food :p
but none the less i do not feel safe driving, so getting around is difficult especially with my back i don't do good with walking places (and asthma doesn't help)
all of my health issues are manageable, and with having only 1, i would say its no big deal...but it is a big deal, because i have all these problems topped on top of each other.
so no, it is not easy, and most people do not and will not understand, especially since they're almost all auto immune diseases so i do look fine most the time (unless the hives/swelling breaks out)
but it keeps me here looking to god to strengthen me and help me get through.

Now: now i am living with my mother and husband. i married my best friend of 5 years last august 25th 2011. he gets me through so much, moving to a diff state also did quite a number on me emotionally...i mostly stay home and play World of Warcraft, getting out is a treat and i pretty much overdress for everything since i never get out :p but as im starting to take over my health, and weight i feel better, and im hoping going to get my photography business up and going again.

if you have any question, feel free to comment me, really i would be surprised if anyone actually read this at all, and really flattered.

i figured i dont need to put my hole childhood up here, but i do have more older pics in my fashion history page if you would like to heck that out.
